Rheumatic disorder is a group of conditions characterised by inflammatory changes in the connective tissue. Symptoms of rheumatism manifest in disorders in joints and bones, in extreme situations leading to acute pain, restriction in the joints’ mobility up to complete stiffening of the joints. Rheumatism is a common term for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Among osteo-articular conditions there are also: arthrosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, avascular necrosis, curvature of the spine.

Diagnosis of rheumatoid conditions is mainly based on laboratory tests and imaging. JOPA Clinic offers imaging (magnetic resonance, computer tomography due to its cooperation with the partner: “Tomograf”, at Batorego 17/19 in Toruń (the building of the Municipal Hospital).

Dr Anna Sulencka-Gbiorczyk takes care of patients with rheumatoid conditions at our Clinic. We offer a wide range of rehabilitation to patients dealing with rheumatoid disease or seeking recovery after an illness. Rehabilitation in rheumatological conditions is a multi directional process and is especially crucial in the early stages of the condition, before the lesions in the musculoskeletal system become irreparable. There is a phenomenon of a vicious circle in rheumatoid diseases: the pain causes strain in the muscles, consequently, the muscles constraint the joint and cause even more acute suffering. Bringing mobility to the joint is based on painkilling, relaxing and supporting. The therapy used in muscle relaxation includes physiotherapy, exercise and manual treatment.
