General surgery refers to principles connected with healing wounds, blood transfusion, feeding, regulation of the electrolyte economy in the organism, pre and post operational procedures, first aid rules in the case of life threatening situations and general rules of surgical technique.

Laparoscopic surgery, also called called Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), is a surgical technique, in which operations are carried out in the area of the abdomen. It is performed with a video camera and special, small tube which is introduced to the body through the small incisions (usually 0.5–1.5 cm). Surgery performed with the use of the camera gives the possibility to see the inside of the body very precisely and the tool itself can monitor extremely small elements. The most common surgeries performed with laparoscope include:

  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
  • Surgery of gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernias.
  • Surgery on the stomach, small and large intestine.
  • Treatment of inguinal hernia
  • Removal of post-operative scars

Diagnostics of surgical conditions involves mainly Ultrasonography, endoscopy (gastroscopy, rectoscopy and colonoscopy) and computer imaging (tomography) JOPA Clinic has modern ultrasonographs, operated by Specialist Consultant Dr Joanna Janiszewska- Stasiak and offers computer imaging (MRI, TK) due to its cooperation with the partner: “Tomograf,” at Batorego 17/19 in Toruń (the building of the Municipal Hospital).

Patients with surgical conditions are taken care of by dr Marek Załucki and dr Łukasz Brycht.

Patients seeking recovery after surgery can choose from a wide variety of rehabilitative activities. Therapy starts with delicate stimulation of the soft tissue. These are special grips and tissue motions, which affect their proper slip and layout. Specialist exercise helps to maintain the recovery process. Then, manual work and physiotherapy help to deal with the scar. At each stage of therapy patient receives individual treatment. Holistic approach and individual care are of the utmost importance for our Clinic.
